After scoping the project together with the client, Deepsense was tasked with assigning a seasoned expert with a deep understanding of bioinformatics and machine learning (ML) applications in next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology. Selected by the advisory firm from a pool of vetted experts in our network, the chosen expert had extensive experience in scaling bioinformatics technology platforms across techbio organizations and developing next-generation sequencing platforms.

For the project, the expert first conducted an internal call with the client, reviewing scientific papers on long-read sequencing methods to prepare the tech advisory team on the technical aspects of the biological and computational protocols. This call helped set the stage for the due diligence process, ensuring that both the biological and bioinformatics aspects were thoroughly understood. A second call was scheduled with the target company to assess their proprietary sequencing methods. The expert focused on understanding how the startup’s approach differed from standard practices in long-read sequencing, emphasizing potential advantages and unique performance benefits.

Following the calls and document review, the expert provided a targeted Summary Report. Finally, recommendations were made for next steps, specifically regarding the refinement of computational aspects and further evaluation of integration potential with machine learning tools.
